Both Haditha and Mosul Dams are probably not well known. They may be a blurb that quickly turns to more interesting subjects. Yet these two dams have been the places most protected by U.S. airstrikes against ISIS and rogue factions in recent weeks. These waters represent two of the four rivers that flowed in the Garden of Eden: The Euphrates and Tigris Rivers.

They are located in Iraq which is the fertile crescent; the cradle of civilization, and it is not by coincidence that the world is focused there. U.S. interest may be oil but, without a flowing water, oil recovery is severely limited, i.e., whoever controls the water controls the production. Rev 16:12  And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.  Russia and China represent the kings of the east.  My point here is simple: We are watching the last days unfold right before our eyes.  While basking in Americanism: sports, entertainment, careers; there is an end of time emerging in plain view.  While we can find other spiritual parallels, these are real events that show us the coming of The Lord. I pray that we are not so enamored with this life that we no longer look for Heaven.  I hope that we are not so internally focused that we miss the signs of the times. We must not be entangled with the cares of this life that we fail to witness the movements of God in the world. Jesus said to watch and pray.  It is a command to the Church and it speaks to our day. We are living out the pages of scripture and it demands our sober attention to make our calling and election sure.
